If you are looking for a meaningful community event to enjoy with family and friends this spring, “Celebrating America: A Patriotic Performance” promises to be a memorable evening of music, tradition, and local talent. The concert will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Massillon, located at 301 Lincoln Way E, Massillon, Ohio.
Hosted by the welcoming community at First United Methodist Church of Massillon, this special public concert is designed to bring people together through music. It is an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to gather, celebrate, and enjoy an uplifting performance in a warm and family-friendly setting.
The Canal Fulton Community Band is a long-standing volunteer ensemble with roots dating back to 1954. Known for performing traditional, patriotic, and popular selections, the band brings together musicians from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels. Under the direction of Dr. Patricia Grutzmacher, the group continues to share free public performances across the region and is part of the wider spirit of community celebration in Ohio.
Dr. Patricia Grutzmacher, a professional oboist who has performed with the Akron and Canton symphony orchestras, has led the Canal Fulton Community Band for more than 15 years. Her experience and leadership help shape the ensemble’s polished sound while keeping community music at the heart of every performance.
The evening will also feature Dr. Stephen Grimo, Assistant Director, along with Mr. Derek Condo, organist at First Church and a Massillon teacher. Mr. Jerry Norton will serve as announcer, helping guide guests through a program that celebrates American spirit and community pride. For anyone seeking an inspiring local event at the end of May, this concert is one to add to the calendar.
